ID Quantique strengthens its IT Security activities in Switzerland and Europe with the appointment of Kelly Aston Richdale
The company announced the appointment of Kelly Aston Richdale as Vice President Sales and Marketing to build up its Network Encryption division and strengthen further its position in the network encryption market. Kelly Richdale, who has worked for 10 years in the high-tech sector as an entrepreneur as well as in executive posts, joined the company in October.

ID Quantique and Siemens deploy the first testbed of commercial quantum cryptography in the Netherlands
ID Quantique and Siemens IT Solutions and Services have deployed the first commercial application of a quantum cryptography project in the Netherlands. The qualification project relates to the data transfer via optical fiber connections - with high bandwidth and availability demands – between the data centers of the Siemens offices in The Hague and Zoetermeer.

Vulnerability in commercial quantum cryptography tackled by international collaboration

The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg together with the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light in Erlangen have recently developed and tested a technique exploiting imperfections in quantum cryptography systems to implement an attack. Countermeasures were also implemented within an ongoing collaboration with leading manufacturer ID Quantique.

Quantis true random number generator goes PCI Express

ID Quantique SA announces the launch of a PCI Express version of its Quantis random number generator to make it compatible with newer servers and computers. The new card is a low profile device, so that it fits in all platforms. In parallel, to this new product, ID Quantique is also introducing a new version of the software package accompanying Quantis, which includes 64-bit drivers. These new developments will strengthen the position of Quantis as the reference true random number generator for applications in cryptography or online gaming.

Partnership between ID Quantique and Mobilegov
As part of its business development strategy, IDQ announces the signature of an agreement with French authentication specialist Mobilegov, which will cover both technical and commercial aspects.
Mobilegov has integrated the Quantis quantum random number generator in its Digital DNA ID Box authentication server.

IDQ announces that its encryption products have attained Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level 4 augmented with ALC_FLR.2 (EAL4+). As a world premiere, this certification also applies when keys are sourced from the company’s quantum key distribution technology.

IDQ receives a prestigious startup award

On October 15, 2009, IDQ received a prestigious startup award in Geneva. This prize, the "Prix de la Jeune Industrie", was awarded to IDQ in recognition for its outstanding achievements in commercializing quantum information technology and in implementing a sound business model.

Quantum Cryptography Network Up and Running for 12’000 Hours

The SwissQuantum testbed network was set up in Geneva by the University of Geneva, the University of Applied Sciences of Western Switzerland and the company id Quantique in order to demonstrate long-term operation of quantum cryptography technology in a meshed network setting. Contrary to quantum networks previously deployed, it is used to carry real traffic and is independently tested. The network was deployed in April 2009 and has been up and running for more than six months and has recently passed the 12’000 hours of cumulative operation time mark. “With this project, we clearly demonstrate that this technology is mature, reliable and deployment ready” explains Gregoire Ribordy, CEO of id Quantique. The operation of this network was demonstrated during the whole week at the ITU Telecom World exhibition in Geneva and its performance presented during a conference on October 8th. Quantum Random Number Generator used in Geneva's Internet Voting Operation

“One citizen - one vote” is the central axiom of democracy. To guarantee this in the cyberworld, the State of Geneva relies on a quantum random number generator built by id Quantique to produce unique identifiers guaranteeing the voters’ anonymity and the vote security. This innovative solution was offered last weekend to 60’000 citizens who had the possibility to cast their vote over the Internet in the framework of the 12th official online ballot in Geneva.

Multi-application Quantum Network goes live in Geneva for long-term testing

A multipoint quantum network - the SwissQuantum network - has been installed in March 2009 in Geneva. Its purpose is the long-term demonstration of quantum cryptography technology. A website that will allow public monitoring of the network performance went live on July 6th.

IDQ strengthens its board of directors by appointing seasoned executives in sales and finance

IDQ continues its expansion and appoints Simon Johnson and Dominique Périsset to its board of directors. Mr. Johnson is a seasoned ICT entrepreneur and has extensive international sales and marketing experience. Mr. Périsset has held several senior financial positions, including chief financial officer, in several organizations. id Quantique continues to increase its international sales efforts and will participate in January 2009 to the ITnT trade show in Vienna, which focuses on information technology in central Europe.

Quantum cryptography becomes de facto standard to secure elections in Geneva
In the fall of 2007, during the Swiss Federal Elections, id Quantique's Cerberis encryption system with quantum key distribution was used by the IT department of the Geneva government to secure the network processing vote results. Following this succesful pilot project, the Geneva canton decided to use quantum cryptography to secure all future elections. The Geneva local elections which were held on October 19th were thus secured using this technology. Read more...

id Quantique's quantum cryptography solutions deployed in quantum networks worldwide
Both of the quantum networks deployed recently rely heavily on id Quantique's quantum cryptography technology. The first network was developed within the framework of the SECOQC European project and was deployed in Vienna. Its backbone consists of seven links, three of which were developed by id Quantique. The second network was deployed in Durban, South Africa, by the University of Kwazulu-Natal to secure the network of the city of Durban. It uses exclusively id Quantique's Cerberis solution. The European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) announced today the creation of an Industry Specification Group dedicated to quantum cryptography standardization. id Quantique welcomes this initiative and supports it by acting as a founding member of this group.

id Quantique Insrumentation to broaden its single-photon detector product range with a dedicated instrument for 1064 nm
id Quantique will be presenting as a world premiere at SPIE Photonics West in San Jose a new single-photon detector, the id400, specifically designed for 1064nm. This detector is based on an InGaAsP/InP avalanche photodiode and features a detection efficiency as high as 30%. It works both in gated and free-running mode. Applications include spectroscopy, LIDAR and quantum optics.

World Premiere: Geneva counts on quantum cryptography as it counts its votes
The Geneva State Chancellery announced at a press conference held on October 11, 2007 that id Quantique's quantum cryptography product will be used to secure the dedicated optical fiber line used for counting its ballots. This operation constitutes the world's first reported application of this novel technology.

Quantum Cryptography Solution for Storage Area Networks under Development
id Quantique and Australia based Senetas Corporation Limited (ASX:SEN) announce that they have initiated the development of a Fibre Channel extension of the Cerberis solution – high speed encryption with quantum key distribution – for storage area network applications.

idQ partners with Senetas to commercialize the broadest range of encryption solutions in Swiss and European markets
Building on this successful joint effort, id Quantique and Senetas announce today that they have entered into a commercial collaboration. They have signed a reseller agreement, allowing id Quantique to distribute Senetas’ range of CypherNet high speed encryptors in selected countries in Europe. They have also signed a second broader agreement allowing each partner to resell the jointly developed quantum solution in the countries it covers.

The Cerberis solution is awarded the prestigious Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) iAward
Senetas was nominated for its Gigabit Hybrid Quantum Encryption technology developed with its Swiss technology partner, id Quantique during the first half of this fiscal year and now in customer trials in Europe.
