id QUANTIQUE LAUNCHES TWO SINGLE PHOTON COUNTERS FOR THE VISIBLE RANGE

December 1, 2004

The id100 and id150 are the latest members of id Quantique's SPDM-VIS product family. These compact and affordable single-photon detection modules exhibit best-in-class timing resolution (40ps), high detection efficiency (up to 40%) over a wide spectral range, low dead time (70ns) and low dark count rate (200Hz). At the heart of these modules are novel silicon APDs operated in Geiger mode and designed specifically for photon counting applications. These modules are easy to use and can be integrated in any optical set-up. The id100, a single pixel module, is ideal in applications such as, for example, fluorescence and luminescence detection, time correlated photon counting, single molecule detection, DNA sequencing, or decay and multiple-decay time measurements. The id150 is the first 1x10 linear array on the market. This multi-channel module excels in all applications requiring parallel access for high throughput measurements, such as parallel DNA sequencing and high throughput screening (HTS).

About id Quantique

id Quantique's focus is to provide innovative and cost-effective solutions by leveraging the tremendous capabilities offered by Quantum Photonics. The company designs and manufactures hardware products serving two main markets: network security and optical instrumentation.

id Quantique has a global leadership in shaping the evolution of network security. A recognized worldwide leader in the commercialization of Quantum Cryptography products, the company was first to bring this new technology to the market in 2001. Since then id Quantique has been at the forefront of the advancement of this technology, building a broad intellectual property portfolio, and is now ideally positioned to grab a significant share of this emerging market. The company is delivering cryptography products for uncompromised network security to service providers, enterprises and administrations. The company is one of the recipients of the 2001 European Innovation Award from the Wall Street Journal Europe, as well as of the 2002 and 2004 Swiss Technology Award, in recognition for its pioneering work in the field of Quantum Cryptography.

id Quantique also offers Quantum Random Number Generators that are deployed by cryptographic equipment (hardware secure modules, virtual private networks) manufacturers. These generators provide truly random numbers with best-in-class bit rates.

Complementing its network security activities, id Quantique has a growing optical instrumentation business, where the company's core Quantum Photonics technologies provide innovative solutions for industrial, commercial and research applications. Its product offering includes photon-counters for the visible and infrared regions of the optical spectrum, as well as short-pulse laser sources. These products are used in medical/environmental instrumentation, quantum optics, aerospace and defense applications.

id Quantique's customer base in the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Latin America and the Middle East benefit from the company's commitment to technology leadership, its culture of innovation, its product reliability, its attention to customer service and its independence.

id Quantique's mission is to strive to lead in the creation, development and manufacturing of the industry's most advanced network security and optical instrumentation solutions. id Quantique operates as a privately held company headquartered in Geneva , Switzerland . It has received the “CTI Startup Label” in 2004, confirming its growth potential, from the CTI-Startup initiative of the Swiss federal government. In early 2004, the company announced having raised one million Euros from i2i, a venture capital fund based in Luxemburg. A spin-off from the University of Geneva , the company has close ties with leading academic institutions and participates to several Swiss and European R&D programs, such as the Secoqc project.
