This month saw the publication of the fourth issue of the European Cyber Security (ECSP) report by KPN, the Dutch landline and mobile telecommunications company. With articles covering everything from DDoS to QKD, the publication is intended to both inspire and educate the cyber security community.
The fourth edition is no exception, featuring articles from KPN, Accenture, Deloitte, Checkpoint and PWC. It also features an article from Kelly Richdale and Bruno Huttner of ID Quantique. In their feature: Cyber Security Today and Tomorrow, Kelly and Bruno discuss the immediate need for quantum-safe security.
“Although the arrival date for a practical quantum computer is still under debate, experts currently believe that we will see a cryptographically relevant quantum computer within 10-15 years. All our cyber security infrastructure has to be revamped and brought to a quantum-safe status.”
In addition to challenging the current cyber security conventions, the article provides an overview of the quantum cryptographic options available to IT security professionals. It provides an overview of quantum key distribution (QKD) and concludes with a call for greater crypto agility.
