Welcome to the latest edition of the Quantum Era Security Times, brought to you by ID Quantique, the world leader in quantum-safe cryptography solutions.
In this edition, we are excited to announce that ID Quantique has been rewarded with an A-ranking by ArianeGroup as part of its supplier evaluation programme. It recognises the significant performance improvements achieved to meet aerospace industry requirements.
Next, we look at the progress being made by the QRANGE project, which seeks to push QRNG technology further than ever before. The project is featured in an Euresearch success story.
Then we announce that representatives of seven EU countries have agreed to explore the development and deployment of a quantum communication infrastructure across the EU. Quantum Key Distribution will be the first service to be made available on the new infrastructure.
Finally, we would like to invite you to join us in Montreal for QCrypt 2019, the annual conference on quantum cryptography that brings together students and researchers from across the field.
In 2020, Ariane 6, the next generation of launcher, will include IDQ’s technology in the form of a custom-built OTDR system designed to achieve unrivalled sensitivity. As the prime contractor and design authority for the launcher, ArianeGroup awarded IDQ an A-ranking after conducting an IPCA+ quality assessment; rewarding the significant performance improvements made in 2018.
The €3.2m project is spearheaded by a nine-member consortium which includes ID Quantique. Since its announcement in 2018, QRANGE has been expanding the capabilities of Quantum Random Number Generation further than ever before; aiming to make the technology cheaper, faster and more secure.
Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) will be the first service to make use of the new infrastructure. This comes after representatives from Belgium, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands and Spain signed a declaration that agrees, over the next 12 months, to explore how to develop and deploy a quantum communication infrastructure (QCI) across the EU within the next ten years.
QCrypt, Montreal, Canada, 26–30 August 2019
The annual conference on quantum cryptography (QCrypt) comes to Montreal, Canada, for its 2019 gathering. It will bring together students and researchers working across all aspects of the field.
As the annual event for students and researchers working on all aspects of quantum cryptography, QCrypt will include research into key topics including Quantum Key Distribution (QKD). We will be there, so be sure to come and visit us. You can book a meeting in advance on our website.
