Welcome to the latest edition of Single-Photon Systems News; brought to you by IDQ, the world leader in quantum photonics. This month we are pleased to announce that Dr. Marc Nikles has joined the team at IDQ as Senior VP Single-Photon Systems, bringing over 25 years’ experience in the sensing industry. We then see how a collaboration between The Quantum Technologies Group at the University of Geneva, ID Quantique and Corning Incorporated has extended the maximum range of quantum key distribution (QKD) over optical fibre to a landmark 421 km. Next we look at how IDQ’s Andy Strong is taking quantum sensors out of the lab and into the real world, accelerating the process of bringing sensor solutions based on single-photon detectors (SPADs) to end-user markets. We are also proud to announce that we have been recognised as a SINET 16 Innovator for our work in securing long-lived ‘Life Critical’ IoT devices using quantum random number generation. Finally we would like to invite you to SPIE Photonics West, which will take place in San Francisco from 02-07 February 2019. We will be exhibiting, so come and discover our new Time Controller! Best regards, Grégoire Ribordy |
