Taking Quantum Sensors out of the lab and into the real world
ID Quantique’s Andy Strong looks to accelerate the process of bringing sensor solutions based on single-photon detectors (SPADs) to end-user markets.
Many clients will know Andy Strong who joined ID Quantique (UK) in May of this year. Building on Andy’s experience in development of optical sensing solutions in a range of industries, his primary role is to set up collaborative projects with UK Universities and end-users to accelerate the process of bringing sensor solutions based on single-photon detectors (SPADs) to end-user markets.
Current and recent examples of this type of project include remote, drone-mounted sensing of hydrocarbon gases, inspection of ICs via photon emissions from individual transistors, and extremely high-resolution monitoring of critical optical fibre communications links in the space industry.
We also wanted to let you know that Andy is now your UK point of contact for all of ID Quantique’s single-photon detector and precision timing products for sensing applications.
Please feel free to contact him with any product enquiries, or if you have requirements for support with existing systems; he’ll be happy to help. Andy’s contact details are below:
