QKD Migration Strategies implemented by Telco Operators
With a recent push for a timely migration towards Quantum-Safe security by the governments in the US, EU, and Asian countries such as South Korea and Singapore, there is more urgency amongst multi-national corporations and government agencies to set up a migration strategy and begin deployments.
Ensuring the quantum-resilience of critical infrastructures and network backbones entails leveraging an amalgame of technologies, including quantum key distribution, quantum key management systems, and post-quantum cryptography, in hybridized and/or layered approaches.
Stakeholder cooperation in expediting the development of relevant ETSI standards, as well as collaborating on integration of core components, plays a pivotal role in ensuring interoperability and usability of complex solutions. Importantly, telecom operators are uniquely positioned to support a seamless and early migration by developing Quantum-Safe Network (bandwidth) as a Service where possible.
